Oh my gosh you have a baby... at the bar!

First off, I really need to change the title of this blog. I have obviously failed at posting a picture a day for 365 days. It started with the camera going MIA, and then from that point forward, well... I just got lazy! Once I think of a nifty new title, I'll change it.

Yesterday was a fabulous day. I was told by my doc that I can eat! Yay! Last night I had yummy raviolis and tonight we went to dinner at my favorite Mexican food place in town... Miguel's!

Before dinner we had drinks at the club. The little one got in a nice little visit with a few of her favorite boys!

She's on the move!

Instead of a picture, today I give you a video. (Please excuse the sideways view. I need to remember not to turn my camera while in video mode! )The little one is working on her balance. This little walker for babies was passed down to us from a friend. Every time she starts pushing it I get nervous thinking she won't move her feet out from under her, but she does!

This is my last week of liquids. Yay!! I was a bad girl and managed to swallow some scrambled eggs and gravy for breakfast, and for dinner I had tofu. After I few bites I blended up the tofu though. I was feeling guilty for not following the doc's orders.

Nothing beats good music with great friends!

To celebrate our two year anniversary and my good friend's birthday, we travelled up to Murphys to listen to Joan Jett and ZZ Top at Ironstone vineyards. It's an absolute beautiful venue. If you ever get the chance to go, do it!!

We spent the day shopping in downtown Murphys. I drank... a lot. Well, a lot for me with no solid food to help absorb the alcohol. I tried to get in as many calories as I could, but it just wasn't enough substance. I had to cut myself off and call it a night early. I adore this picture of me and the husband. My new smile isn't so bad after all!

Hypocrite.. me?

The big bad evil television has been introduced to my 9 month old baby girl. I always said, "Oh, I'll never let my little one watch the tele!" And, I would judge those that did prop their little ones in front of it. Well, I'm a big fat hypocrite. It's hard keeping up with a little one that can get into just about EVERYTHING! And the 20 minutes of one Baby Einstein video can't be that bad. To make myself feel better about it all, I make sure she's watching with friends.

On the recovery front, one more week of liquids! Yay! I've been able to keep my weight up, so that's good. I have discovered that Chinese food tastes just about the same when it's all thrown into the blender. Oh, and one of my new favorites... albondigas! So yummy even when it's all smooshed up.

17 Days Post-op

Last Sunday we met the family in Lotus and had a fun filled day at the river. Unfortunately, I left my camera behind! Sissy has it and as soon as I get it back from her I'll be back to posting pictures.

I went to the doctor's again yesterday. I received this crazy letter from my insurance company stating they weren't going to cover my hospital stay, even though they approved it before I went in for surgery. Doc told me his office will handle it and to not worry about it. The hospital will fight for me as well so that's good to hear.

I managed to gain 2 lbs last week. The splint in my mouth has been removed and I only have to wear the rubber bands at night so I can finally talk normal. I can't eat solids though for another two weeks!! This is going to be the longest two weeks ever.

Confession

I don't like my new smile. The husband and sissy both told me that I need to wait. This is recovery phase, and I shouldn't judge my smile until I'm completely done. I just finished reading The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. The final sentence in the book really hit me.

"My dear," replied Valentine, "has not the Count just told us that all human wisdom is contained in the words 'Wait and Hope!' "

So... here's to waiting and hoping that by the end of all of this I will be happy with my new smile.

10 Days Post-Op

Went to the doctor's today. One more week with the splint in! I think I can make it! I've lost 10 lbs so far, but I am only 2 lbs under my pre-pregnancy weight. The doc reminded me not to watch calories. I'm trying to eat high in fat soups. The potato soup I made had a pound of bacon and I used the bacon fat in the soup, and for breakfast and lunch I have milk shakes. Someone suggested buying some protein powder so I may do that. Here is a recent profile shot. You can still see a bit of bruising, but it's not near as bad as it was and the swelling is almost completely gone.

Tingle, tingle, little face...

The tingling is driving me nuts!! I have to say, this is the worst part about the surgery so far, well, besides not being able to eat. Oh how I miss food. The tele has been my enemy with all of it's darn food commercials. One good thing though is I finally fit into my pre-pregnancy pants! Yay!

My talking is better, the swelling is down to a minimum, and the bruising is barely visible. Tomorrow I'll have the husband take more face pics. Today, I leave you with a picture of my cute little one. Sorry for the blurriness. My camera is a piece of crap and I hope by doing this blog I can convince the husband it's time we upgrade! Our anniversary is in a few weeks... heh

Meet Henry!

Henry is the giant cock that guards our liquor. Isn't he handsome? For my birthday one year, the husband let me bid on him during a silent auction. (He thought I wouldn't win! ha!) I actually got into a bidding war and ended up putting in the highest bid at the very last second! Yay!! Henry was the beginning of the cock collection. There are now quite a few more.

Soups on!

The most suckful part of this whole thing is I can't eat solid food... but the good part about that is I get to be creative with soups! I have never made my own stock before and decided it was about time I tried. The smell of it cooking on the stove made my mouth water! Can't wait to use it in tomorrow night's soup: The Most Fattening Potato Soup Ever. (Fitting since I really need those extra calories!). Oh, and I got to put our fresh herbs to use: lemon tyme and parsley!

I'm getting feeling back!!!

A tingly sensation is starting to trickle through my chin and lower lip. It's a totally bizarre feeling and itches a bit; like a little tickle that won't go away.

Sissy spent the night last night and today I got treated to a wonderful lunch with a few of my favorite ladies! We went to The Creamry and I have to say they have great customer service. I chose the place thinking I would just have a big ol' milk shake, but when we got there, Sissy asked if they would blend up one of their soups for me... and they did!! Thank you, Creamry, for treating me so well! I'll definitely be coming back again and again!

Fifth Day Post-Op

The bruising has set in and I'm still a bit swollen. The pain isn't bad though, so that's good.

Visit from mom

Mom came down Friday night to help chase little one around the house. Here they are enjoying a mum-mum while watching Baby Einstein.

And on the third day post-op... she slept!

And I had the best sleeping partner ever, Roscoe Doggo! I did have a follow-up appointment this morning. Nose bleeds will continue to happen. They're nothing to worry about since they are pretty minor. The doc said my swelling isn't near as bad as they expected it to be... so that's good. I do have a weird dimple on the side of my face. It's too early to tell if it will stick around or not. So far, so good. One more week off work for recovery.

Whoa!

I managed to take a shower today and remove the rest of the bandages from my face. I think this expression explains enough.

She didn't cry!

One of my biggest fears was that little one would cry the first time she saw me after surgery. Well, she didn't cry! She gave me the biggest, sweetest smile ever! I'm not so sure though if that smile was for me... or the balloon!

Hello fat face!

Out of the house at 5:45 am, dropped Molly off with the best babysitter in the world, and checked into the hospital at 6:30 am. Surgery was at 8:30 am and sometime around 2:00 pm the husband caught me on camera. Spent the night in the Cardiovascular ICU. Best nights stay I've ever had at a hospital. Too bad I can't check in there every time I have to go to one!

Thank you patient #122

On the hunt for some before and after pictures of others whom have tortured themselves with this surgery before me, I came across patient #122. Seeing her pictures made me realize that yes, this will be all worth it in the end.

So, here they are, my before and after photos fresh off the digital camera:

Today was my last day with my face as I know it. Good bye face, you've treated me well for the first 30 years of my life. *smooches*

Taking it all in

Sunday drives are the best. Today's drive was north to beautiful Coloma. Sissy and I met up at this little place called Gringos where we indulged in some tasty nachos. mmm... nachos. How I will miss your cheesy crunchy goodness during the six weeks I can't eat solids.

We stopped along the river for a dunk before driving in the heat back home. In this picture you can tell I do not have much for a chin. It will be quite interesting to see what I'll look like once I have one.

Count down... eek!

Why am I getting this surgery? This is the question I keep asking myself over and over and over again. It comes down to this. I've been told by this guy who has gone to school for lots and lots of years that if I don't have this surgery I might not have a chin when I'm an old lady. I've seen those old ladies. Oh, and my bite is all wonky too.

This is the count down. Picture posting will begin tomorrow! Husband said he would promise to take pictures even when I don't want a picture taken. Every day... for a whole year.
